Announcing the KoboToolbox Essentials Course: Learn to collect data more effectively with KoboToolbox

We are excited to announce the launch of our new KoboToolbox Essentials Course! In this hands-on self-paced course, you will develop foundational skills in data collection and management. Upon completion, you’ll receive an official KoboToolbox Essentials certificate.

KoboToolbox is a powerful tool for developing data collection forms and collecting, managing, and analyzing data. Since our launch in 2014, KoboToolbox has grown to become one of the most widely used data collection platforms in the world, with over 20 million surveys collected per month and 700,000 users across the globe. In 2022, KoboToolbox received a total of 206 million survey submissions, with over 515,000 new survey projects created. The KoboToolbox Essentials Course is specifically designed to meet the needs of our users, and we are very excited to be able to offer this highly requested resource to the KoboToolbox community.

This online self-paced course provides a comprehensive introduction to using KoboToolbox, covering everything from creating forms and mapping data to using more advanced features like skip logic and cascading selects. Participants will develop foundational skills in data collection and management, including designing surveys, deploying forms, using mobile devices to collect data, creating reports, and viewing and downloading data.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Create and design forms using KoboToolbox’s intuitive interface
  • Perform essential functions using Formbuilder, KoboCollect, and XLSForms
  • Test and deploy forms for data collection
  • Use KoboToolbox’s advanced features to customize forms, including skip logic and validation criteria, cascading selects, calculations, and translations
  • Manage and analyze data by working with reports, viewing and downloading data, and automating workflows
  • Create visualizations to communicate insights and findings
  • Identify how KoboToolbox can be used by different organizations to collect data

Each module includes videos, quizzes, and hands-on exercises to help you practice and apply what you learn. The course is self-paced, so you can complete it on your own schedule, get real-time results on learning assessments, and receive feedback on your progress.
